Mark Kadin is the founder of MAK Pictures. He started the company five years ago to begin production on A&E’s hit series, Cajun Justice, and MAK has now produced over 200 hours of television for Discovery, TLC, History Channel, A&E, National Geographic, Destination America, and Spike. MAK also has development deals and projects with a multitude of other networks and OTTs.
A graduate of Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism, Mark’s first foray into television was working at the CBS affiliate in Lexington, KY as an on-air reporter. Mark soon returned to his hometown of Los Angeles and got his first job in production at America’s Most Wanted.
Now working in television for 20 years, prior to starting MAK, Mark was also an Executive Producer on such shows as National Geographic’s Known Universe, FX’s 30 Days with Morgan Spurlock, Animal Planet’s IPredator, and Discovery’s Firehouse USA. In 2009, Mark won an Emmy for his work as Executive Producer and Showrunner of Fox Sports’ Sport Science.
When not at the office or catering to the needs of the office mascot, Abby, Mark can be found on the golf course (where his handicap fluctuates between a 1 and a 5 depending on how many shows are in production—luckily, he’s currently at a 5).
